In depicting religius phenomena, there has been on going debates bringing up the polarization of the dichotomy between textual and contextual approaches. Basically, the two approaches have methodological weaknesses, for each can not figure out the religion [Islam] comprehenshively. The first, the textual approach, tends to view religiua phenomena merely on the level of core element. On the other hand, the contextual approach can likely redure the substantial elemen of religion, for it tends to view religion on the level of periphery. The weaknesses, thus, open new awareness of religius studies formed in the synthesis of the two approaches. As a result, there arise a textual-contextual approach. syur.
