This article deals with the opposition between Islamic and seculer nationalists to reigh power in Indonesia. Basing his arguments on data gained from historical and sociological analysis, the split between the two group have begun from the era of revolutionary to nowadays. During four decades, muslim had used political Islam to approach the ruling elite. The effort was failed, even the muslim since then were marginalized. But, when cultural Islam have been on power, especially during the last two decades, they can be accepted by the socoaty and goverment. It makes the secular group jealous, becaous the position which had been held by the secular during four decades was gradually taken over by the muslim group. The secular group always tries to retake over those position by giving a bad impression to the by creating instability and insecurity economic. syur.
