The need to develop pesantren manajement is a must. Pesantren has been known as an exclusive institution in which kyai, as the owner and leader of the pesantren, tends to manage his pesantren in the manner of traditional ways, without any organized plan and manajement. However, nowadays pesantren must be keeping up with modernization in the sense of being inclusive of accepting any new change. There are, at least, four areas covered in the area of modern manajement: planing, organizing, controlling and evaluating. By implementing modern manajement in the pesantren, it is expected that kyai is not the only single person who is in charge of the pesantren. Rather, he should gradually lessen his centralistic leadership and charismatic authority. He gives opportunity to his santris to give their contribution to develop pesantren. syur.
