Historigraphy tend to side with the outhorities ttat it often distorts historical facts. This has been a commonly known phenomenon not only of the Indonesian history, for example, but also of the Islamic history. In Islamic history, Sunni was the most donimant group of the greater part of Islamic imperium, that its hegemonic influence overshadowed the importance of Shi'ah role. It is well-known that al Azhar was the firts and foremost Islamic University that still exists to day. Because of yhe Sunni hegemony, however, it looks as if came into existance by itself. Where as in fact, it was one of the cultural contributions of the Fatimid origin. al Azhar was one of the evidence of Shi'ites, great contribution to the Islamic culture which so far has been dominated by both Umayyads and Abbasids. syur.
