Indonesian Islamic women enter the political arena :
This article investigates early discourse about the appropriate role of Indonesian women in politics, focussing on Islamic views. In the colonial period people firsr began to think about whether and if so how Indoesian women should engage in public affairs. From quite early in the twentieth century, some Indonesian women began to try to influence policy on matters that closely concerned them, such as education of girls and child marriage, and the colonial state and men's organisations also became involved in these issues like these that women entered the political arena.
