This paper deals with the conflict between Hambaliyah and Syi'ah covering subtantial but still disputable sources of the conflict and its background. The points of the conflict lie on the syi'ah concept of imamah and their attitude towards sahabah. This paper also describes how sharp the conflict is between the hambaliyah and syi'ah. The theological conflict on imamah and on the personal quality of sahabah have been entailed by various social conflicts in history, especially by the end of classical era. In its later development, the conflict continues to exist as is described in theological writings and in Islamic history.
