This research deals with a phenomenon of the increase of the religious mystical life in metropolitan Muslim societes. Its objects of study are forms of the mystical life, its factors from which it results, and certain benefits that are received after following its religious activities. The city of Surabaya is chosen as research area. The method that is done here is qualitative by placing the researcher as main research instrument. Such method depens mostly on the development of data available in the field. The startegy of collecting data is done, using a participatory observation, deep interview, and library research. This research discovers the increase of the religious mystical life in urban societies. This is approved by the increase of their responses to religious activities, including attending religious sermons and doing mystical path and rituals. Through these activities they find certain positive benefits like learning Islam by direct guidance, friendship, and the calm.....yo.
