The grouwth and development of pesantren in Indonesia can be seen as the historical evidence that there is a harmoniously reciprocal interaction between Islam and local culture. Consequently, pesantren frm cultural perspektive, especially pesantren in Jawa is an integral part of the local cultural institution which is very important to be understood throgh understanding what cultural values and norms believed amongst the pesantren community. This paper tries to elaborate and analyze the dynamics of the peaceful message built in the pesantren communities. Through his analysis towards the kitab kuning learnt in the pesantren, the writer will further elaborate the response of pesantren toward the texts of kitab kuning. dopink.
