Zakat fitrah and maal as dakwah bil al hal : a survey study among professors and lecturers at one of the Islamic universitas in Yogyakarta, Indonesia /
By investigating the characteristics, attitudes and behaviors of 85 professors and lecturers at one of the Islamic universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, this study analyzed their giving of zakat fitrah and zakat maal. The study examined result of an online survey to assess how much faculty gave and wether they gave most often to individuals or foundations. A general tendency is that Muslims will give their zakat to mosques and individuals instead of foundations. Mosque attendance correlated significantly and inversely with the amount of zakat maal. Age and income were significantly positively and negatively correlated. Fmales were more likely to give to foundations and males to individuals. The amounts of zakat fitrah and zakat maal correlated with income. Based on the results, Indonesian social workers should help communities increase the rate of zakat collections through educating givers to donate suitable amounts; encouraging zakat institutions to raise awareness of giving...ifa.
