Islamic neomodernism is an Islamic reform movement that tried to see and respond critically and objectively the results of Muslim thought and of that of the West as well as the globalized modernity. Islamic doctrines that the classic Muslimsunderstood are no longer relevant with social life today. Moreover, we stern modernism which is always voicing the values of universal humanism has a negative view againts Islam. This paper tries to describe the thinking of Fazlur Rahman, especially the new methodology he offered as a solution to understand the teachings of Islam to become contextual and eliminate the negative view of the Western world.ifa.
