There are three opinions in religious discources regarding the law of rasm usmani in Qur'an writings. The first opinion states that rasm usmani is taufiqi [taken for granted from Prophet Muhammad saw], the second states that it is ijtihadi, and the last in the most moderate opinion intended to give flexibility to the average person to adapt with the Qur'an. On the other side, it also emphasizes that certain people [khawas] ought to maintain the preservation of rasm usmani. The paper's author asks since when did the doctrine that states rasm usmani is taufiqi exist? Has this doctrine been known since the beginning of the era of Islam?ifa.
