Kemampuan membaca dan memahami al Qur'an : tantangan bagi pendidikan Islam /
Drawing on the findings of the survey conducted by Balai Litbang Agama Jakarta in 2007, the author describes the levels of Quran reading and comprehension abilities among the Muslims in the western part of Indonesia. Besides, the aspects of reading frequency and duration are also presented along with the sources from whom the Muslims learned to read the Quran for the first time. One of the interesting findings is that there is a disconection between the ability to read and the ability to comprehend the Quran. In other words, it is quite common that Muslims read the Quran without comprehending its meanings. Using biriate analysis, the author also found, with a slight variation across region, a significant correlation between the level of reading ability and the level of educational attainment.ifa.
