Model model Kajian Islam dan Sains dalam Literatur Indonesia Kontemporer
This paper examines some of the literature written by Indonesian Muslim intellectuals who discuss aspects of science in the Qur’an. The emergence of these literatures because of the impact of modernization going on in the islamic world, which is characterized by the development of science and technology. Due to encouragement from the Quran, the Muslim scholars seek to
unravel questions about the phenomena of the universe (ayat kauniyah). Those literatures essentially
are continuation of a tradition of Qur’anic interpretation that there previously prevailed, tafsir ‘ilmiy, namely the interpretation of the Qur’anic verses that contain clues of scientific discoveries or facts of science. At least, there are three approaches used in the literature on Islam and the
sciences; first, the normative approach, which outlines the Qur’anic verses and then justies them with the facts of science. Second, the empirical approach, which outlines the facts and theories of science then matched with the truth of the Qur’anic verses. Third, the parallelistic approach, however
not to equalize between the facts of science and the Qur’anic verses.
