This article attempts at elaborating the contemporary trends of the development of Islamic thought in Indonesia. The author assumes that the development of intellectualism and mode of thought in Islam seems to accelerate more rapidly in the dynamics of this decade. This appears to be more obvious, among others, whit special reference to the increase of human resources and the awareness of developing this discipline among Indonesian Muslim youths. On the other hand, the overwhelming of this article will show some ill-fated facts that hinder the grouwth and development of intellectualism and mode of Islamic thought in this country.
