As a great kingdom with Islamic characteristic, Mataram Kingdom implemented the principles of Javanese power system. This can be clearly seen when Sultan Agung was rulling 1613-1645 by implementing the principle of Gung Binathara Bau Denda Nyakrawati meaning that Sultan Agung possessed absolute power including all kingdom's property and its people. The power system of Amangkurat I was actually not different in concept and in its application. However, Amangkurat I cooperated with the Dutch. This cooperation caused the power to split into two, namely the power of Amangkurat I on his people, and that of the dutch on islanders. The power shift caused the social stratification change in Mataram society. Hence, there was a great gap between the colonizers and the colonized, each representing a certain social stratum. The political, economic and social power was basically on colonialism is the wxistence of discrimination, either in social interaction or in government.
