Zakah is an Islamic instrument to alleviate poverty. Zakah actually has much more potentials if used with broader approaches. This article is about program developed by lembaga amil zakat nasional [zakah, infaq dan shadaqah collector] DPU Daarut Tauhid Bandung, one of religious based institutions, that tries to use zakah to strengthen economic base of the poor. The method developed in the program uses religious and social approaches to assure the evectiveness and sustainability of the program. It facused on social cohesion and religious responsibility by using group mechanism and technical assistance.he.
