The sunnah is a divine revelation and instruction both in its meaning and contents save that its literary pronunciation and form is said by the messenger of Allah [saw] himself. The Sunnah is taken place in the second major of Islamic legal sources. In the science of jurisprudence, understanding the Sunnah must be similar to other sciences and human knowledge's. This paper examinessome objects that relevant to on how to understand the Sunna in the context of Islamic legal studies. The focus of this study is to explain the position of sunna mutawatir and ahad as the second source of Islamic law, the authenticity and the originality of sunna, and the view of Ulama on the position of the Sunna Mutawatir and Ahad in the formulation of Islamic legal principles. As Conclusion, the author states that no longer discussion on the position of the sunna mutawatir. Some Ulama mention that the sunna ahad cannot be positioned as the source of law because of the authencity and the originality....yo.
