This paper is presented to find a clear analyzes the importance of the implemen-tation of deconstruction idea of Mohammed Arkoun on the concept of Ahl al Kitab. This paper is also proposed to promote the pluralism ideas in Indonesia dealing with the understanding Islam as a system of belief. The view ofMohammaed Arkoun on pluralism ideas is how to reform the Islamic thinking of Muslim today to be inclusive, humanist, and tolerance. According to Mohammed Arkoun, all muslims around the world to day need rethinking Islam in which he intend to reinterpret the term of Ahl al-Kitab in the Quran and the Sunna. He has rejected an exclusive religiosity and sectarianism in various symbols. However, Muslims today must exist in an inclusive performance and tolerance attitude, especially, in understanding Islam as a system of belief. Finally, rethingking Islam mustbe done only by cultural approach.yo.
