It is well known that Indonesia is a plural country, for it has a multi religious society. It has been succesful in developing a religious understanding among its religious community that has led to the emergence of a religious harmony. Indonesia is, in fact, a showcase for the success of religious tolerance in the world. The success of the country is because of its hard work in developing the individual consciousness toward the tolerant attitude. In Islam, tolerance becomes an evidence of individual piety derived from one's fidelity toward God. Therefore, Islam has laid down a real foundation for the development of social harmony within its community. In this case, the reconstruction of religous understanding that deals with the internalization of of the tolerant attitude into our real life becomes an important thing.ifa.
