In this article, the author presents the result of her study on the use of information technology in a modern religious boarding school [pesantren modern] al Amanah in the village of Junwangi, Krian Sidoarjo, East Java. The focus on the study is on the availability of technological equipment, including hardware and software, internet access, and the use of such equipment for the teaching-learning activities in te pesantren al Amanah. The author shows that though located in a remote area, surrounded by rice and sugar cane tields, the pesantren proves it self to be part of the so-called phenomenon of 'internet goes to school'. Relying solely on independent sources, despite various limitations, this pesantren is able to provide for itself all the technological equipment necessary for the development and use of information technology for its educational purposes. But there are still many things needed in order that the pesantren is able to realize an ideal of e-learning.ifa.
