The study of the implementation of SQ3R technique to improve student reading comprehension in descriptive text at SMA NU 1 Gresik
This study is concerned with teaching reading in senior high school. The rnresearcher wants to know to what extent does the implementation of SQ3R technique to improve students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text at SMA NU 1 Gresik? rn rnThe design of research used in this study is descriptive analytical method. The subjects of this study are English teacher and tenth graders of SMA NU 1 Gresik. Then, to conduct the data needed, the researcher uses interview and documentation. From the syllabus and lesson plan documentation shows that the teacher implemented SQ3R technique based on the step of SQ3R technique. The stages are: The students should know some topics and subtopic of the text (Survey), it should be done to know what will be discussed on the text. Then make some questions before we read the text (Question). The next stage is answering the question and read the text (Read). Then summarize what we get from the text and answer-question (Recite). rnAnd the last stage is rereading the text and understanding it (Review).
